Commercial Energy Performance Certificates EPC
Monday, April 6, 2009 7:35It has become mandatory that if you are planning to buy or sell a home you should obtain EPC or otherwise known as Energy Performance Certificate for the buildings. This is because of the fact that it is these buildings which have been emitting more carbon than that of the cars and automobiles that we drive. This was a proven fact that these buildings due to the way it has been build, heated, insulated as well as fueled, emits more carbon than the automobiles. Hence they have enforced a strict law from October 2008 that you will need to obtain energy performance certificate from the appropriate body or the qualified energy assessors who specializes in this.
There are two types of EPCs one is the regular home owner or tenant EPC and the other is commercial EPC. You will need to obtain it no matter which category you fit in. You will need these EPCs for new buildings that is being built, rented or even sold. It is up to you to check whether the said building that you are planning to buy or sell is accredited by the approved energy assessors or not. Thus you are doing your part in saving this earth for our future generation.
